What happens during a dog photo session?
When you arrive at the studio, we will meet you and your dog out front. In the studio, your dog will probably be excited and want to spend some time sniffing around. We learn a little more about your dog's personality and motivations.
We slowly introduce the photography equipment to your dog while giving out treats. We then start the photos using toys, treats and noisemakers to get the best photos. We capture many dynamic poses and a multitude of expressions.
At the end of the session, we preview some of our fine art pieces And jump into the image reveal and ordering session.
Where do the portraits take place?
The photo session takes place in our dog friendly studio located by Little Italy, in downtown Toronto. Our clients come from all over the GTA including Markham, Mississauga, Oakville, Thornhill and Scarborough.
Do you offer gift certificates?

How should I prepare for the photo shoot?
Before the photo shoot, it's helpful to put thought into where in your home you might want to display your photos. You can also think about getting your dog groomed, or a nice brush out before the photo shoot. As we use treats for the photos, a lighter meal the day of the session will keep your dog nibbly.
Should I get my dog groomed before the photo shoot?
Each dog looks their best a certain number of days after a grooming appointment. I'd suggest taking the time period between the photo shoot and grooming appointment into account when booking your shoot.
If your dog has hair in front of its eyes, I'd highly recommend trimming this before coming in for your session. If requested, retouching hair from in front of eyes is available for an additional fee.
A brush out is a good idea for most dogs.
What should I bring to my session?
Please bring an assortment of your dog's favourite treats and toys. You might also want a light jacket as we keep the studio at about 16 degrees to keep the dogs nice and comfortable.
I have two dogs. Can I bring them both to the session?
Absolutely! We will take photos of the dogs individually and together.
My dog is sick, can we book a session very quickly?
If you need to book a photo shoot in a hurry before you see availability in our online schedule, please get in touch and we will try our best to fit you in.
My dog doesn't know many commands. What if they misbehave?
We have years of experience working with dogs of many different training levels. From new puppies that don't know how to sit to show dogs that can hold a pose for eternity. If you dog isn't well trained, that isn't a problem for us. Using our positive training techniques, treats and praise, we are able to get great photos from even the most boisterous dogs.
My dog is shy and reactive. Can I still book a photo shoot?
We have loads of experience will all kinds of dogs. With shy and reactive dogs, we give them extra time to warm up and get settled into the new space before we start the photos. We have several techniques to help an anxious dog relax.
In very rare cases a dog may not be comfortable enough in the studio, in which case the shoot fee will be refunded.
My dog has a history of aggression or biting. Can we still come in for photos?
Please call us to discuss the specifics so that we can determine if your pup can safely be photographed.

What is included in the retouching?
All the photos that we present in your personal online gallery are retouched to make them look great and fulfill our creative vision. We remove distracting elements from the background, adjust fur contrast to make your pup pop and brighten eyes. Depending on the dog, we might reduce red around faces, clean up missing fur patches, and remove drool.
On the rare occasion that extensive editing is requested (adding a tail, removing hair from in front of eyes, full head swap) there is an additional fee.
Who will be my photographer?
Fido Foto's Creative Director and principal photographer Jason Krygier-Baum works on most photoshoots.
